Namyangju-si "to foster young talents to lead webtoon industry"

Namyangju City will set the stage for nurturing young talent who will lead the webtoon industry, a promising industry in the future. Namyangju City announced on the 26th, "We have taken the first step in industry-government-academic cooperation in the webtoon field by holding a three-way business agreement ceremony and inviting webtoon writers with Kyungbok University and Kenaz, a Korean webtoon production company."

The business agreement includes support for the operation of the webtoon academy and the role of each institution, which will be promoted from next month to revitalize the future leading industry in Namyangju and link local youth employment and start-ups.

In particular, the city plans to recruit 20 young people interested in the webtoon field as the target of the "Namyangju Youth Webtoon Academy" in June.

Academy participants will begin the process of becoming experts in the webtoon field through systematic and professional education from Kenaz Co., Ltd. using Kyungbok University's infrastructure.

Among those who have completed the training, the excellent candidates will be given the opportunity to recruit interns or participate in webtoon production projects after screening.

Mayor Joo Kwang-deok said, "The biggest concern among young people is the job problem," adding, "Namyangju City will work with local universities and industries to secure education and employment opportunities for webtoons and industries with high potential for future development."

Meanwhile, following the signing ceremony, Namyangju City also gave an invitation lecture to more than 50 citizens by Moro (author of Werie's story), a Kenaz Co., Ltd.

The lecture consisted of the background of the birth of "Wiri Story," the ecosystem of the webtoon industry, and Q&A, which received great response from young people and citizens who dream of becoming webtoon writers.
