OnomaAI, developer of AI-based webtoon creation engine, receives PreA funding

OnomaAI's flagship service, Tootoon, creates webtoon characters, clothes, background images, and content based on written commands. For example, if you type in "a group of students walking out of the classroom," a manga-style drawing of them pops up."

The company has also developed a service that learns an artist's drawing style and creates webtoons with a storyline. It's currently in beta testing and will be available to the public in late October. In April, the company unveiled TootoonGPT, which combines Tootoon with ChatGPT to create short-form videos by typing a single sentence of a story.

Kenazu, one of the investors, is a webtoon production company. It operates an exclusive writer system and currently has about 180 webtoon writers, excluding PD staff."

OnomaAI plans to use the investment to recruit talent and develop products. "We will do our best to grow into an unrivaled multimodal running company," said Song Min, CEO of OnomaAI.
